Powering Progress with Green Hydrogen

The global energy transition is a pivotal shift from fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources, essential for reducing CO2 emissions and meeting the Paris Agreement’s climate goals.

Renewable energy and green hydrogen are the key to this transformation, mitigating climate change, enhancing energy security, and creating a more inclusive, resilient global economy. Emerging markets like South Africa are central to advancing green hydrogen production, unlocking sustainable growth both locally and globally.

SA-H2 Fund Managers (Pty) Ltd (“SA-H2”) is a joint venture between Climate Fund Managers (CFM), a climate-focused blended finance investment manager and Invest International, the Dutch development financing institution. It manages the SA-H2 Fund (also known as Climate Investor Three South Africa/ CI3 South Africa), a USD 1 billion target blended finance facility investing in the development, construction, and operation of green hydrogen infrastructure within South Africa.

Primary Service

South Africa is well positioned to produce and export green hydrogen, leveraging its abundant solar and wind resources, available land, established ports, proximity to key off-take markets, and supportive regulatory frameworks. SA-H2 will work in partnership to develop, construct, and operate green hydrogen infrastructure in South Africa, driving measurable social, environmental, and economic growth through international trade, foreign direct investment, enhanced access to green energy, water treatment solutions, domestic hydrogen use, and job creation.
